Movie VS Its Book

flipped

With this, I first saw the movie then immediately research if there was a book version. Then voila! it has one, 212pages and all :) This book brings you back to your Highschool days where you first experience puppy love, its awesomeness, that feeling of loving someone other than your family, its frustrations and realizing you flipped.

-book version

Some of us get dipped in flat, some in satin, some in gloss; but every once in a while, you find someone who's iridescent, and once you do, nothing will ever compare.

Flipped is a romance told in two voices. The first time Juli Baker saw Bryce Loski, she flipped. The first time Bryce saw Juli, he ran. That’s pretty much the pattern for these two neighbors until the eighth grade, when, just as Juli is realizing Bryce isn’t as wonderful as she thought, Bryce is starting to see that Juli is pretty amazing. How these two teens manage to see beyond the surface of things and come together makes for a comic and poignant romance.

- movie version

When second-graders Bryce and Juli first meet, Juli knows it's love. Bryce isn't so sure. Beginning that day, and for the next six years, young Bryce (Callan McAuliffe) does everything he can to keep his outspoken wannabe girlfriend at arm's length...which isn't easy since they go to the same school and live across the street from each other. Smart, dreamy, independent and willing to stand up for what she believes in, Juli (Madeline Carroll) is different from anyone else he knows and, frankly, it's a little overwhelming. What's a guy supposed to do when a girl tells him his hair smells like watermelon or wants him to sit in a tree for the spectacular view? There's just no telling what Juli will do next, and Bryce is one guy who'd rather be safe than sorry. Though disappointed by Bryce's unwillingness to see things her way, or even to see the things in life she finds most meaningful, Juli continues to give her potential dreamboat the benefit of the doubt. Until those doubts stack up so high that she finally thinks maybe she was wrong about him. It's just about the same time Bryce starts to think maybe he was wrong about her, too. But is he too late? The coming-of-age romantic comedy "Flipped," from director Rob Reiner, takes Bryce and Juli from Grade School to Junior High, through triumph and disaster, family drama and first love, as they make the discoveries that will define who they are--and who they are to each other.

word

A unique plot-line, dictionary styled story with which people who are in love or in love with love will clearly relate to this book. A word play of different stages of a relationships putting its aspect into one word. Can you imagine, ONE WORD that best describe that specific experience. Now, that really is a word play of words.

The Lover's Dictionary
by David Levithan

The Lover's Dictionary
“It scares me how hard it is to remember life before you. I can't even make the comparisons anymore, because my memories of that time have all the depth of a photograph. It seems foolish to play games of better and worse. It's simply a matter of is and is no longer.”

A modern love story told through a series of dictionary-style entries is a sequence of intimate windows into the large and small events that shape the course of a romantic relationship. - goodreads

Just like to add some of my fave quotes:

“Even when I detach, I care. You can be separate from a thing and still care about it. If I wanted to detach completely, I would move my body away. I would stop the conversation midsentence. I would leave the bed. Instead, I hover over it for a second. I glance off in another direction. But I always glance back at you.”

“The key to a successful relationship isn’t just in the words, it’s in the choice of punctuation. When you’re in love with someone, a well-placed question mark can be the difference between bliss and disaster, and a deeply respected period or a cleverly inserted ellipsis can prevent all kinds of exclamations.”

“abstraction, n.

Love is one kind of abstraction. And then there are those nights when I sleep alone, when I curl into a pillow that isn't you, when I hear the tiptoe sounds that aren't yours. It's not as if I can conjure you up completely. I must embrace the idea of you instead.”

hope holder

In the follow-up to Colleen Hoover’s #1 New York Times bestseller Hopeless, the charming and irresistible Dean Holder tells the passionate story that has melted thousands of hearts. - goodreads

Losing Hope (Hopeless #2)

Losing Hope (Hopeless, #2)
In Hopeless, Sky left no secret unearthed, no feeling unshared, and no memory forgotten, but Holder’s past remained a mystery.

Still haunted by the little girl he let walk away, Holder has spent his entire life searching for her in an attempt to finally rid himself of the crushing guilt he has felt for years. But he could not have anticipated that the moment they reconnect, even greater remorse would overwhelm him…

Sometimes in life, if we wish to move forward, we must first dig deep into our past and make amends. In Losing Hope, bestselling author Colleen Hoover reveals what was going on inside Holder’s head during all those hopeless moments—and whether he can gain the peace he desperately needs.

“I wonder if it's possible for people to fall in love with a person one characteristic at a time, or if you fall for the entire person at once.”  -- I'm in love with you and all your little things..

entwined with you

The worldwide phenomenon continues as Eva and Gideon face the demons of their pasts, and accept the consequences of their obsessive desires…  - goodreads

Entwined with You (Crossfire #3)

Entwined with You (Crossfire, #3)

From the moment I first met Gideon Cross, I recognized something in him that I needed. Something I couldn’t resist. I saw the dangerous and damaged soul inside–so much like my own. I was drawn to it. I needed him as surely as I needed my heart to beat.

No one knows how much he risked for me. How much I’d been threatened, or just how dark and desperate the shadow of our pasts would become.

Entwined by our secrets, we tried to defy the odds. We made our own rules and surrendered completely to the exquisite power of possession…

THIS BOOK IS A HUNDRED TIMES BETTER THAN THE FIRST TWO. The characters have matured in the period of these two-three months they have been together. We learn so much more about Gideon! He actually opens up! I was so glad to read more about his dark past.. it makes me feel more comfortable and connected with the whole story because you finally understand!! They weren't clingy. They were evolving, slowly.. step by step growing up and growing together. The one thing I liked the most in this novel was what the word Crossfire ment to him! - goodreads

catching up movies! ( book vs movie )

Since I owe you guyz tons, here's some movies that I haven't been able to compare the book vs the movie.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower (2012)

The Perks of Being a Wallflower (2012) Poster
Based on the best-selling novel by Stephen Chbosky, The Perks of Being a Wallflower is a modern classic that captures the dizzying highs and crushing lows of growing up. Starring Logan Lerman, Emma Watson and Ezra Miller, The Perks of Being a Wallflower is a moving tale of love, loss, fear and hope-and the unforgettable friends that help us through life.

Verdict: For this I might say, BOTH! The book was great & also the movie! It wasn't just because of the cast but how they portray their individual roles. And also they added a little twist from the movie :)

Warm Bodies (2013)

Warm Bodies (2013) Poster
A funny new twist on a classic love story, WARM BODIES is a poignant tale about the power of human connection. After a zombie epidemic, R (a highly unusual zombie) encounters Julie (a human survivor), and rescues her from a zombie attack. Julie sees that R is different from the other zombies, and as the two form a special relationship in their struggle for survival, R becomes increasingly more human - setting off an exciting, romantic, and often comical chain of events that begins to transform he other zombies and maybe even the whole lifeless world.

Verdict: Definitely the movie! (spoiler alert) The book wasn't even a so-so book t'was really a bore ;0 Unlike what they did in the movie, they added spice to it in the end. Oh, but the quotes in the book are really witty & great so better read the book also. Just bring a long tons of fingerfoods & cola so that you know what I mean :)

lightning could strike

Gleeky fans beware 'cause kurt has a book! Oh, I mean Chris Colfer has a new short lit for you guyz. The book was a nice, fairly short read, but it was also a very unique story along with the taglines. While the movie possesses a jarring mixture of tones, with moments of dark comedy sitting somewhat uneasily alongside scenes of quiet domestic drama though in some perspectives the protagonist was somewhat arrogant. But hey! we have different perspective in things, you'll never know lightning could strike twice! :) Enjoy.

"Life comes at you fast, it hits you and tries to escape and be expressed in any way possible. In a way, it's a lot like... lightning"  - Carson Phillips

Struck By Lightning: The Carson Phillips Journal
by Chris Colfer

The Carson Phillips Journal follows the story of outcast high school senior Carson Phillips, who blackmails the most popular students in his school into contributing to his literary journal to bolster his college application; his goal in life is to get into Northwestern and eventually become the editor of The New Yorker. At once laugh-out-loud funny, deliciously dark, and remarkably smart, Struck By Lightning unearths the dirt that lies just below the surface of high school. At a time when bullying torments so many young people today, this unique and important novel sheds light with humor and wit on an issue that deeply resonates with countless teens and readers.

zombies at heart

Scary, funny, and surprisingly poignant, Warm Bodies is about being alive, being dead, and the blurry line in between. - rotten tomatoes

This is like Twilight back in those days, where its a first in its kind type of genre. A zombie typically known to have no emotions suddenly gets cold feet  or warm-bodies.

“I want to change my punctuation. I long for exclamation marks, but I’m drowning in ellipses.”

Warm Bodies

R is a young man with an existential crisis--he is a zombie. He shuffles through an America destroyed by war, social collapse, and the mindless hunger of his undead comrades, but he craves something more than blood and brains. He can speak just a few grunted syllables, but his inner life is deep, full of wonder and longing. He has no memories, noidentity, and no pulse, but he has dreams.

After experiencing a teenage boy's memories while consuming his brain, R makes an unexpected choice that begins a tense, awkward, and stragely sweet relationship with the victim's human girlfriend. Julie is a blast of color in the otherwise dreary and gray landscape that surrounds R. His decision to protect her will transform not only R, but his fellow Dead, and perhaps their whole lifeless world.

sky holder

"Someone told me I was hopeless....
That I would never go anywhere in my life
That I would have to struggle to survive
That people would point their fingers at me and whisper behind my back
Someone told me I was hopeless....
And I just smiled and nodded and told her that I hoped that's how it always will be....Me living Hopelessly...."

samurai X

I have been an avid fan of Samurai X ever since from manga series to OVA's. Then came the live action film adaptation of it ( where here in our country, was exclusively shown to selected cinemas). Based from the recent critics, the adaption blows some of the critics meager expectations &  It was not only a good adaptation but also a good movie in its own right. So better get started.. :)

Rurouni Kenshin

Hitokiri Battōsai participates in the Battle of Toba-Fushimi and walks away from the battlefield as the victorious Imperialist forces celebrate. After a decade, he, now calling himself Himura Kenshin, arrives in Tokyo and meets Kamiya Kaoru, the owner of a Kendo school left to her by her father. Kaouru's only student is a boy named Myōjin Yahiko. Kenshin soon moves in with them after stopping a group of thugs in the employ of Kanryu Takeda from taking over the dojo. Takani Megumi, who had escaped from Takeda after being forced to make opium, also joins the group. She provides medication for the victims of poisoning who come to the dojo for help after one of Takeda's men puts rat poison in the community wells. Angry at Takeda, Megumi attempts to kill him, but is prevented from doing so and held hostage. Kenshin and Sagara Sanosuke attack Takeda's mansion, besting all his men. Saito Hajime then helps them subdue Takeda, who had armed himself with a gatling gun. They rescue Megumi, but discover that one of Takeda's men, Jin-e Udo, has kidnapped Kaoru. Kenshin pursues Jin-e and a duel ensues, ending when Kenshin shatters Jin-e's elbow with his scabbard. Jin-e then commits suicide. Kenshin takes the unconscious Kaoru back to the dojo, where upon waking up, she tells Kenshin that the dojo is now his home.
