on revient toujours a ses premieres amours

"Every one of us has someone who is hidden in the bottom of our heart. And when we think of that person, we feel like there's always a little pain inside. But we still want to keep that person. Even though I don't know where he is today, what he is doing, I know that he is the one who taught me this. A crazy little thing called LOVE."  - nam

First love. Gives young people a sense of individualism because for the first time they learn to love someone aside from their family. But its always the hardest to escape from since - first cut is the deepest. And as the saying goes: on revient toujours a ses premieres amours - we always go back to our first loves -  'cause its the first time we felt something for someone that is too complicated to explain. With this movie, it really is a refreshing experience reminiscing those days where you first encounter  your little crazy thing called love.

Crazy Little Thing Called Love (First Love)

The ordinary 14 year old girl Nam is unattractive or in simple terms...ugly. But she's always been secretly in love with an older guy in grade 10 called Chon, the most popular student in high-school. He's hot, perfect and generous, and that's what makes girls go crazy about him, including Nam too. But she doesn't give up easily. She tries to do everything to make her get noticed by the boy she loves, in the hope of him turning around to look at her just one more time.

FOI

"The only thing new in the world is the history you don't know." - Pres. Harry Truman

SOPA/PIPA. From WIKI's description of Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) is a United States bill introduced by U.S. Representative Lamar S. Smith (R-TX) to expand the ability of U.S. law enforcement to fight online trafficking in copyrighted intellectual property and counterfeit goods. & The PROTECT IP Act (Preventing Real Online Threats to Economic Creativity and Theft of Intellectual Property Act, or PIPA) is a proposed law with the stated goal of giving the US government and copyright holders additional tools to curb access to "rogue websites dedicated to infringing on counterfeit goods", especially those registered outside the U.S.

This issue has really has taken its toll these previous week, as an ardent web enthusiast scouring the search engines for free torrents & links are pretty much tedious nowadays. Since there are lots of links that are mostly blocked or removed due to violation of terms & services - better yet for piracy or infringement, aside from bogus links which where the problem before if you don't know their hookups. Piracy, can the American government really stop it by using their SOPA & PIPA? Further analysis from recent blogs indicate that they can and they will but the prohibition includes only within their territory. Overseas sites like Pirate Bay & MegaUpload can still be accessed though since they aren't covered within the prohibition. So whats the use of it? Picture it this way when SOPA/PIPA is passed, this will be the result when you google search :

Now what could be worse than this?? Cyber-world controlled by media outlets and their respective lobbies. As such, letting people have a glimpse of SOPA/PIPA's underlying prohibition is a must since cyber-world is more on freedom of information. Imagine going back to the 50's to the 80's where there is no Internet, no facebook, twitter, wiki, google, free ebooks  (now what would be the use of kindle, nook & e-readers).  By taking part of the anti-SOPA & PIPA campaign we can still stop this from happening. Let Digital age rule as it is because there is also worry that SOPA and PIPA could be abused and lead to censorship for purposes other than the entertainment industries intellectual property protection.

that which we manifest is before us

The Art of racing in the rain. This story is narrated by Enzo based on his views of life , the nature of it along with its complication and the oftentimes criticism of human thinking - since he is a philosopher. But what really gives this book an edge to other novels is that the main character, Enzo is not a human but a mix lab terrier dog. With this book we could take a peek on a dogs perspective of life, the theory of man's evolution and monkeys.

The novel follows the story of Denny Swift, a race car driver living in Seattle, and his dog Enzo, who believes in the Mongolian legend that a dog who is prepared will be reincarnated in his next life as a human. Enzo sets out to prepare, with The Seattle Times calling his journey "a struggle to hone his humanness, to make sense of the good, the bad and the unthinkable." Enzo spends his days watching and learning from television, gleaning what he can about his owner's greatest passion, race car driving — and relating it to life. Enzo eventually plays a key role in Denny's child-custody battle with his in-laws, and distills his observations of the human condition in the mantra "that which you manifest is before you.

requiem for a dream

White noise. As HowStuffWorks dissect its meaning - " The adjective "white" is used to describe this type of noise because of the way white light works. White light is light that is made up of all of the different colors (frequencies) of light combined together (a prism or a rainbow separates white light back into its component colors). In the same way, white noise is a combination of all of the different frequencies of sound. You can think of white noise as 20,000 tones all playing at the same time. Because white noise contains all frequencies, it is frequently used to mask other sounds. If you are in a hotel and voices from the room next-door are leaking into your room, you might turn on a fan to drown out the voices. The fan produces a good approximation of white noise. Why does that work? Why does white noise drown out voices? Here is one way to think about it. Let's say two people are talking at the same time. Your brain can normally "pick out" one of the two voices and actually listen to it and understand it. If three people are talking simultaneously, your brain can probably still pick out one voice. However, if 1,000 people are talking simultaneously, there is no way that your brain can pick out one voice. It turns out that 1,000 people talking together sounds a lot like white noise. So when you turn on a fan to create white noise, you are essentially creating a source of 1,000 voices. The voice next-door makes it 1,001 voices, and your brain can't pick it out any more."

Dream music for me is like a White noise, it help stimulate my bainwaves so that I could fall asleep. It blocks all noise in the background and noises in my head. By that I have certain lists of dream music in my playlist that I would like to share ( courtesy of my cousin who introduced me to 8tracks, who have an epic mixes) Just check the playlist at the right side of the panel.

Death and Taxes

"Love is passion, obsession, someone you can't live without. I say fall head over heels, find someone you can love like crazy and who'll love you the same way back. How do you find him? Well, you forget your head and you listen to your heart and I'm not hearing any heart. Because, the truth is there is no sense living your life without this. To make the journey and not fall deeply in love - well, you haven't lived a life at all. But You have to try, because if you haven't tried, you haven't lived... Stay open, who knows? Lightning could strike." -- William Parish
I'm not being sarcastic but for a lightning to strike would you be in an open field holding a rod (or any metallic object)? Kidding aside. The way this quote speaks volume of contradiction nowadays, I myself included. Its like the song from the Eagles, Love will keep us alive where there's a phrase - "When we're hungry, love will keep us alive.." I know the lyrics is from a metaphorical point of view but in reality you can't live just love alone & you can't turn-off your mind when love is involve (you might as well justify the concept of love is blind or I'm just plain bitter :x ) From what I've perceived, mind & heart is a combination when it comes to love. It's a yin-yang sorta kind of thing, better yet theoretically speaking - dualism. The plot of this movie is an example of this concept, aside from death falling in love with a human. (well basically death was in a human form that's why he'd fallen in-love, 'cause naturally death isn't capable of emotions). But we'll never know, maybe lightning could strike..

Meet Joe Black

meet joe black @cloudburstBillionaire media mogul William Parrish (Anthony Hopkins) is considering a merger between his company and another media giant, while also about to celebrate his 65th birthday with an elaborate party being planned by his eldest daughter Allison (Marcia Gay Harden). He begins to hear mysterious voices, whlich he tries with increasing difficulty to ignore. His youngest daughter Susan (Claire Forlani), an internal medicine resident, is involved with one of Bill's board members, Drew (Jake Weber). She is considering marriage, but her father is not favorably impressed by her relationship. When she asks for the short version of his impassioned speech, he simply says, "Stay open. Who knows? Lightning could strike!" Shortly thereafter, Susan meets a vibrant young man (Brad Pitt) at a coffee shop. She is instantly enamored but fails to even get his name. Minutes after their encounter (and unbeknownst to her), the man is struck by multiple cars in what appears to be a remarkably serious motor vehicle accident. The grim reaper of Death arrives at Bill's home in the body of the young man, explaining that Bill's impassioned speech has piqued his interest after an eternity of boredom. Given Bill's "competence, experience, and wisdom," Death tells Bill that in return for a few extra days of life, Bill shall be his guide on Earth. Bill agrees, and Death places himself at Bill's right hand as "Joe Black" and establishes a constant presence in Bill's home and work. Susan finds Joe appealing, but cannot understand why he is treating her like a stranger. Bill's best efforts to navigate the next few days — knowing them now to be his last — fail to keep events from going rapidly out of his control. Drew is secretly conspiring with a man bidding for Parrish Communications, so he capitalizes on Bill's strange behavior to convince the board to vote him out as Chairman, using information given to him inadvertently by Bill's son-in-law Quince (Jeffrey Tambor) to push through approval for the merger which Bill had decided to oppose. Quince is devastated by what happens to Bill as all but one other member of the board vote him out. Susan falls deeply in love with Joe, who, now under the influence of human desires, becomes attracted to her as well. Bill angrily confronts him about it, but Death intends to take Susan with him for his own. As his last birthday arrives, Bill makes a last attempt to demonstrate to Joe the meaning of true love and all it encompasses — especially honesty and sacrifice. Realizing finally that love means having to sacrifice his desire to take Susan so that she can live her life, he abandons his plans to take her. He also comes to Bill's assistance in regaining control of his company, exposing Drew's underhanded business dealings to the board by "revealing" himself as an agent of the Internal Revenue Service and threatening to put Drew in jail. Bill devotes his remaining time at the party to Allison and Susan. Joe also says his last goodbye to Susan, admitting in veiled terms that he isn't what he appears to be. She senses something of the truth behind his words but is unable or unwilling to vocalize this realization. While a fireworks show marks the end of the party, Joe escorts Bill away, with Susan observing from a distance. She then is astonished to see Joe return, only to discover that he is the young man whose body Death used, and this is his first glimpse of her since the coffee shop. Both of them know they will have a long way to walk together and learn more about each other, while the fireworks bloom in the night sky.

Perks

Passivity  vs Passion. The reason why I was so engrossed with this book other than being more intimate than a diary is that every page flipped its like opening a portal to my inner-self. Teens can relate to this since we all undergo being - THE "wallflower" somehow. But as time passes we overcome being one, we mature. But there are few who doesn't. Maybe they haven't had friends the way charlie does in this book. I dunno maybe their roots just grew beneath the walls not above it.

The Perks Of Being a Wallflower

perks of being a wall flower @cloudburstThe novel begins in August 1991 with a teenager going by the alias of Charlie, writing to an anonymous "friend" whom he heard someone at school talking about, and decided they sounded like a nice person to write to, on the basis that he or she reportedly did not sleep with someone at a party despite having the opportunity. Charlie states that he does not want the anonymous friend to try to figure out who he is or to find him. Charlie has just begun his freshman year of high school, his brother is at Pennsylvania State University on a football scholarship, and his sister is a senior in high school. We learn that his best—and only—friend, Michael, committed suicide prior to the beginning of the book—leaving Charlie to face high school alone. Charlie often refers to his late Aunt Helen and how she was his "favorite person in the whole world" and states frequently that something bad happened with Aunt Helen, which causes Charlie to be unable to talk about her. Soon Charlie makes the acquaintance of Sam, a beautiful senior on whom Charlie develops a crush almost instantly, and her gay stepbrother Patrick, a charismatic student who is friendly to Charlie. Upon disclosing his feelings and sexual confusion to Patrick and Sam, they are not angry with him, but rather advise him how to handle his feelings privately. Sam and Patrick continue their advisory role while introducing Charlie to many people, music artists, and drugs. Meanwhile his English teacher Bill introduces him to books and encourages him to write essays about them that he will grade despite having no bearing on his English class. At the end of the book, Sam and Charlie almost have a sexual encounter, but do not when Charlie says he is not ready. During this encounter, Charlie has a flashback of his Aunt Helen, who molested him when he was younger. When Sam leaves for school, Charlie has a breakdown. The final letter is written after he is released from the hospital after several months after finally coming to terms with everything and preparing for his sophomore year of high school. At the beginning of the book, Charlie is referred to as a wallflower for his ability to observe and understand things, but over the course of a year's worth of letters, Charlie explains the efforts of the people in his life to get him to "participate" or "do things" and the feelings and experiences he has as a result.

Something about perturb teenies

There's something about this kind of perturb teens- theme movies that is really interesting to watch. I don't know maybe it's just me or Emma Roberts :) But hey, having a plot where the lead cast is a fatalist or a depressed teenager, quoting forest gump's - "Life is a box of chocolates.. You never know what you're gonna get." I think for this, it's simply Life is full of s#@t - from their point of view.

The Art of Getting By

art of getting by @cloudburstGeorge (Freddie Highmore) is a fatalistic high school senior who is a gifted artist. George is often haunted by the realization that he will die someday. He ceases to complete his homework, as he feels that everything seems meaningless. As a result, he is put on academic probation. The next day, George goes up to the school roof and sees Sally (Emma Roberts) smoking. When a teacher comes up, George quickly pulls out a cigarette and takes the blame. Sally meets up with George to thank him, and though George is at first reluctant to talk to her, he soon warms up to her. On Career Day, George meets a young artist, Dustin and is inspired by his thoughts about life. He brings Sally with him to visit Dustin and it becomes apparent that Dustin likes Sally. Sally invites George to a New Year's Eve party. At the party, she dances with her ex, while George gets drunk, puking outside before falling asleep in the alley. Sally finds him there and apologizes. She then takes him back to her place and tucks him in a cot beneath her bed. For Valentine's Day, the two go out to dinner and Sally asks him to have sex with her, after inquiring that he had never done it. George, clearly shocked, doesn't answer. After his pause, Sally says they shouldn't as he is her only real friend. He is quiet for the rest of the time they're together and goes home early. He doesn't answer Sally's calls or talk with her at all. Sally instead invites Dustin out and flirts with him. The two of them start going on dates after Dustin kisses her. George doesn't do his English term paper and is brought to the principals office. The principal gives George two choices: expulsion or do every piece of undone homework, about a years worth. At home, George confronts his stepfather about lying about work, and they get into a physical fight. George takes off for Sally's place. She brings him into the hallway, where he kisses her. Sally kisses him back but breaks it off, revealing Dustin in her apartment. George leaves but Dustin catches up with him and accuses George of not acting soon enough. Angry and hurt, George leaves. The next morning, George finds his mother at the park. She explains that his stepfather lied to her about work and that they're divorcing. George consoles her and begins to rethink his situation with Sally. At school, he gets each of his missing assignments to complete. His one art project is to make a painting that is honest and real. George completes the assignments and takes final exams, while Sally continues being with Dustin. Sally sends a text to George saying she needs to see him. Sally and George meet in a bar, where Sally reveals she's going backpacking with Dustin through Europe, and is skipping the high school graduation ceremony. She says she still needs to be friends with him. George tells her he loves her and it was unfair not to say it before. She takes his hand. They go back to apartment and kiss. She says she's still going on the trip but promises they will be together one day. And she admits she loves him too. George triumphantly turns in all his assignments and his art teacher applauds him on his art project. At the ceremony, George's name is called and his mom is shown to be proud of him. George goes back to the art classroom and looks at his art project: Sally's smiling face. Sally, having opted not to go to Europe with Dustin, enters the room and stands next to George, holding hands. He asks her what she's going to do now and she squeezes his hand and says she doesn't know. The film closes.

It's Kind of a Funny Story

After contemplating suicide by jumping off the Brooklyn Bridge, 16-year-old Craig Gilner (Keir Gilchrist), decides to go to the hospital to seek help. Craig tells Dr. Mahmoud (Aasif Mandvi) that he needs immediate help to which Dr. Mahmoud registers Craig for a one week stay in the hospital's psychiatric floor.[3][4] It is revealed that Craig has a lot of pressure at his high school, such as Executive Pre-Professional (based on Manhattan's Stuyvesant High School) stressing over the need to turn in an application for a prestigious summer school, his shortcomings in the shadow of his best friend, Aaron (Thomas Mann), who is considered to be great at everything, and his dad who pressures him to do well. At first, Craig is unsure if he made the right choice to stay, mostly due to the fact that his friends might find out when he misses school, especially Nia (ZoĆ« Kravitz), his crush and the girlfriend to Aaron. He is placed in the adult ward with a few other teenagers because the teenage ward is undergoing renovations. Craig is introduced to Bobby (Zach Galifianakis), an adult patient who claims he is only there on vacation, as he takes Craig under his wing. During a group discussion, Craig learns that Bobby is stressed about an upcoming interview in hopes of moving to a group home. When Bobby states that all he'll have to wear for the interview is the sweater he is currently wearing, Craig offers that Bobby could borrow one of his dad's dress shirts to wear, and Bobby accepts. Craig's kind offer to Bobby is witnessed by Noelle (Emma Roberts), another teenage patient who is in for self-mutilation. She is impressed by Craig and leaves him a note to meet with her that night. Later, Craig and Noelle attend a painting session for the patients. Craig paints a picture of an imaginary city map which he describes as like his own brain. Throughout his stay, Craig comes to a close bond with various patients on the floor including Bobby and Noelle. Bobby reveals to Craig that he is a father of a little girl and that he is actually in the ward for attempting to commit suicide six times. As Craig tries to help Bobby with his problems, Bobby, in return, helps Craig to gain the courage to ask out Noelle. One night, Nia stops by to visit Craig at the hospital, revealing that she and Aaron had broken up. Craig takes Nia back to his room where she tries to seduce him. However, the two are caught by Craig's roommate Muqtada (Bernard White), an old Egyptian man who has not left the room during his stay. As Nia runs out of the room, Craig chases her and calls out that he loves her, unaware that Noelle is standing behind him. Upset, Noelle storms off leaving behind a drawing of a self-portrait that she planned on giving to Craig. Craig eventually wins Noelle's forgiveness, and the pair sneak out of the ward in scrubs and run around the hospital, ending up on the roof. There, Craig finally works up the courage to ask her on a date, and they kiss. When Craig has an interview with the head doctor of the ward, he explains that he wants to follow his dream of being an artist, and how he should be thankful that his problems aren't as bad as others. Later that night, Craig gives money to one of the doctors so that the patients of the ward can have a pizza party as a good-bye party for Craig and Bobby. He asks Aaron to bring a record, where he discovers Aaron and Nia are working out their problems. At the party, Craig puts on Egyptian music which encourages Muqtada to leave his room. Craig tells Bobby that they should meet up one day once they are released, which Bobby considers, and thanks Craig for changing his outlook on life. In the morning, Craig asks Smitty where Bobby is, but discovers Bobby had left the hospital much earlier that morning. Craig is a little disappointed, but is happy that he and Bobby had left an impression on each other. After Craig leaves, it is shown that he starts dating Noelle, becomes better friends with Aaron and Nia (who are still together), has started pursuing his goal of becoming an artist, and has broke the news to his dad that he isn't going to follow his path, but his dad understands. The movie ends with saying while his stay didn't cure him, it helped a lot, and he can get through the rest with the help of his friends and family.
